MANILA, Philippines — San Juan has reached a record low of 16 active COVID-19 cases as of yesterday, according to Mayor Francis Zamora.
He issued the statement as he led the rollout of booster shots to persons with comorbidities, essential workers and indigents at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
“This is the lowest number of cases we have recorded ever since COVID-19 started in March 2020,” Zamora said as he reported that the city government has vaccinated 242 percent of its target population.
Meanwhile, two districts in Manila – Binondo and Intramuros – did not record any active COVID-19 cases as of yesterday.
However, Manila’s other districts have 105 active cases: Sampaloc has the largest number with 18; followed by Sta. Cruz, 13; Sta. Ana, 12; Malate, 10; Pandacan, nine; San Andres, eight; Sta. Mesa and Port Area, seven each; Tondo 1, six; Tondo 2 and Paco, five each; Ermita, two; and Quiapo, San Miguel and San Nicolas, one each.
The city government recorded 90,344 confirmed COVID-19 patients with 1,723 deaths and 88,516 recoveries.
