Fire hits warehouse in Pasig

MANILA, Philippines — A 17-hour fire that started on Friday afternoon hit a warehouse of consumer food and beverage product firm Universal Robina Corp. (URC) in Pasig City.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the fire at the URC’s complex in Barangay Pinagbuhatan broke out at around 3:12 p.m. and reached second alarm.

The fire was placed under control yesterday at around 4 a.m., the BFP said in its report. It was put out at around 8:53 a.m.

Pasig fire marshal Supt. John Pinagod Jr. said they had difficulty putting out the flames, which affected items made of plastic and other combustible materials.

There were no casualties in the fire. Arson probers have yet to determine the cause of the blaze and the estimated cost of property damage.
