Man on drugs holds mother hostage in Pasig
MANILA, Philippines — A 42-year-old man allegedly high on illegal drugs was apprehended after he held hostage his mother in Pasig City on Friday.
Ronald Lomboy was caught at their house in Barangay Kalawaan at around 11:30 p.m., police said in a report.
Prior to his capture, Lomboy’s mother sought the help of barangay public safety officers as he had been holed up in his room for three days.
When lawmen arrived, Lomboy went berserk and escaped by climbing the roof of their house.
He then clambered onto an electric post, where he stayed for 20 minutes. Despite repeated negotiations, Lomboy returned to their house, where he held his mother hostage with an axe.
Police forced their way into the house and collared Lomboy.
Lomboy’s relatives and neighbors confirmed that he was high on drugs. Records show he was arrested in October 2020 on drug charges.
