Typhoon skips Philippines

Romina Cabrera - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Localized thunderstorms will bring isolated rains over Metro Manila and the rest of the country even as a typhoon, with international name Mindulle, headed north yesterday without entering the Philippine area of responsibility.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said fair weather condition could be expected today.

The state weather bureau said Mindulle was monitored at 1,775 kilometers northeast of extreme northern Luzon as of 3 p.m. yesterday.

The typhoon is not likely to directly affect the weather condition in the country as it moves north-northwest.

However, PAGASA said moderate to rough seas due to swells caused by the typhoon would continue over the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon, which will be  risky for small seacraft.

Scattered rains can be expected in the afternoon and at night.
