MANILA, Philippines — At least 72 percent of the COVID-19 patients at the Mandaluyong City Medical Center (MCMC) are not vaccinated.

Data from the MCMC released by the city government’s public information office showed that 26 or 72.22 percent of the 36 patients are not vaccinated against COVID-19.

One of them died of the virus. Three of the unvaccinated patients are at the hospital’s intensive care unit, with one of them intubated. Another patient who did not receive vaccines is intubated at the medical facility’s COVID ward.

Eight other patients are fully vaccinated while two have received their first dose. They are confined with mild to moderate symptoms

There are at least 789 active cases in Mandaluyong as of yesterday. The barangays with the most number of cases are Hulo with 79; Barangka Ilaya, 72; Highway Hills, 69; Plainview, 67, and Mauway, 52.

Meanwhile, Mayor Carmelita Abalos has placed under granular lockdown parts of Sitio Dos in Barangay San Jose due to an “alarming” spike in COVID-19 cases.

The lockdown started on Aug. 20 and will last until Sept. 2.

“The purpose of the lockdown shall primarily be to conduct contact tracing and COVID-19 testing of the residents,” Abalos said in an executive order.

There are 28 active cases in San Jose, based on the local government’s latest report.

Mandaluyong has also opened its COVID-19 vaccination drive to non-residents.

Abalos said persons residing outside Mandaluyong can register at the vaccination portal Mandavax. Registrants should wait for a text message or call from for their vaccination schedule as walk-ins are prohibited.

Jimmy Isidro, city public information officer, said the local government opened the vaccination drive to non-residents after the city surpassed its target population of 325,172 vaccinees to achieve herd immunity.

At least 421,915 residents and workers in Mandaluyong have received their first dose while 227,990 are fully vaccinated.
