San Juan opens third inoculation facility

MANILA, Philippines — The San Juan government opened yesterday its third inoculation site to ramp up daily COVID-19 vaccinations.

Mayor Francis Zamora said the site in VMall, Greenhills could accommodate 1,000 vaccination appointments daily and is expected to increase the city’s daily jab rate to 5,000.

The other vaccination facilities are located at the San Juan Arena and Theater Mall cinemas in Greenhills.

“We want to follow through with the commitment we made with Health Secretary Francisco Duque III and vaccine czar Secretary Vince Dizon that we will achieve our target 100 percent second dose vaccination by the end of August,” Zamora told reporters.

As of Saturday, the city government had inoculated 105,410 people with one dose of COVID-19 vaccine or about 85.6 percent of its total population of 123,031 based on the projection of the Philippine Statistics Authority.

At least 39,558 San Juan residents have been fully vaccinated.
