Man in car chase fails drug test
MANILA, Philippines — The man who went berserk in Quezon City and was chased by authorities to Manila has tested positive for methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu, police said yesterday.
Maj. Wennie Ann Cale, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) spokesperson, said this was the result of the examination of Tan’s urine samples.
“He is positive,” Cale said in a text message.
Tan was charged with various offenses, such as possession of prohibited narcotics and drug paraphernalia, disobedience to an agent of a person in authority, violation of Republic Act 10586 or the Anti-Drunk and Drugs Driving Act and RA 9208 or the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act.
Lt. Col. Alex Alberto, QCPD Station 10 commander, said Tan was discharged from a hospital where he underwent treatment of his injuries and is now detained at the station.
Police chased Tan up to Recto Avenue in Manila after he went amuck at a hotel in Quezon City where he refused to pay his bill.
