Quake rocks Sultan Kudarat

MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude-4.7 earthquake rocked Sultan Kudarat yesterday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

The tremor occurred at 2:45 a.m. and its epicenter was located 14 kilometers southwest of Kalamansig.

It was felt at Intensity 4 – classified as moderately strong – in Kalamansig, Palimbang and Lebak, all in Sultan Kudarat, and Intensity 3 or weak in Cotabato City.

Instrumental Intensity 3 was registered in Kiamba, Sarangani; Intensity 2 in Zamboanga City, and Intensity 1 in Malungon, Sarangani as well as in General Santos City.

Instrumental intensity refers to the ground shaking as detected by seismic instruments.

No damage or aftershocks were expected from the temblor, Phivolcs said.
