P6.8 million shabu seized in Sulu

John Unson - The Philippine Star

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Shabu with an estimated street value of P6.8 million was seized during an anti-narcotics operation in Maimbung, Sulu on Saturday.

A manhunt was launched for drug suspects Bashir Jam and Basaron Rajikat, who escaped during the operation, according to Juvenal Azurin, chief of the Philipine Drug-Enforcement Agency-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM).

The suspects were supposed to sell a kilo of shabu worth P6.8 million to police posing as buyers in a coastal village in Maimbung when they sensed that they were dealing with undercover agents of the PDEA-BARM.

“They fled using a motorized watercraft. They left their illegal merchandise behind,” Azurin said yesterday.
