CDO cop dies of COVID-19

Emmanuel Tupas - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A 55-year-old policeman assigned in Cagayan de Oro City has died of COVID-19.

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar said the patient, a police master sergeant, was brought to a hospital on May 25 due to cough, fever and shortness of breath. The patient had diabetes and hypertension.

Sixty-eight PNP personnel have died after contracting the virus since last year, 41 of them since last January.

The PNP logged 203 new cases, bringing the number of active cases in the police force to 1,733.

“Sana ay ibayong pagiingat pa rin tayo habang tayo ay gumagawa ng ating mga tungkulin dahil ang banta sa ating kalusugan dulot ng pandemya ay nandyan pa rin,” Eleazar said.
