Woman, son die in Iloilo fire

ILOILO CITY, Philippines — A woman and her son died when a fire hit a residential area in Leganes town shortly after midnight yesterday.

The bodies of Ana Vivien Ganon, 49, and Anthony Quin, 21, were discovered on the ground floor of their house in Barangay Poblacion.

Senior Fire Officer 4 Lee Sampiano said the victims could have died from suffocation.

Ganon’s other son 16-year-old Andre Vince managed to escape by jumping from the window on the second floor. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of burn injuries.

A house adjacent to the residence of the victims was also damaged. No one was hurt among its occupants.

Damage was initially pegged at P700,000.
