MANILA, Philippines — Two new additional stations of the Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) will start operations next month, an official announced yesterday.

Light Rail Transit Authority spokesman Hernando Cabrera said the Marikina and Antipolo stations of the LRT-2 would be operational beginning April 27.

The Marikina station is in front of Sta. Lucia and Robinsons malls. The Antipolo station is in front of SM Masinag.

Last January, the LRTA reported that the LRT-2 East extension project is already 93.42 percent complete.

Currently, the LRT-2 has 11 stations, stretching from Santolan in Pasig to Recto, Manila.

With the two additional stations, the LRT-2 can accommodate an additional 80,000 passengers per day, increasing the rail line’s daily ridership to 240,000 passengers.

The LRTA said travel time from Recto to Masinag, Antipolo would be around 40 minutes.
