Manila grants P5K aid to contractual workers

MANILA, Philippines — Mayor Isko Moreno has signed an ordinance granting P5,000 financial assistance to  contractual workers of the city government amid a pandemic.

The P5,000 financial assistance will benefit job order workers, contract of service workers, and workers of other similar schemes at the city government, according to Ordinance No. 8701 that was enacted by the city council on Monday.

The financial aid was granted “to help ease the financial burden brought about by the economic downturn due to the COVID-19 crisis,” the ordinance read.

The financial assistance will be sourced from the P49.805 million savings in various maintenance and other operating expenses accounts in the 2020 budget.
