MANILA, Philippines — The tourism office of the municipality of Coron has issued health and safety guidelines as it reopens its doors to domestic tourists next week.

“Coron, Palawan awaits your return to its magnificent limestone rock formations and stunning lagoons as it opens for domestic travel on Dec. 1,“ the Department of Tourism (DOT) said yesterday.

The DOT reminded travelers to follow safety protocols when visiting the island.

In a video posted on Facebook, the Coron tourism office said the island would welcome only Filipinos and foreigners residing in the country who are aged 15 to 65.

Tourists will be required to arrange a booking with a DOT-certified accommodation establishment prior to their trip.

The Coron tourism office said only tour packages arranged by DOT-accredited tour operators would be allowed.

Among the documents travelers should present upon check-in at the airport are a negative real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction test conducted within 48 to 72 hours before their flight, a roundtrip ticket, a confirmed accommodation booking and itinerary.

Tourists must complete an online health declaration form on Coron tourism website, where they will be given a QR Code, which will serve as their entry pass and while on the island.

All tourists will undergo health assessment at the triage area of the Francisco Reyes Airport in Coron.

Tourists who will develop symptoms of the coronavirus disease 2019 during their trip will be sent to the Culion General Sanitarium for treatment.
