More aftershocks jolt Masbate

LEGAZPI CITY , Philippines — Six more aftershocks of the magnitude 6.6 earthquake that hit Masbate on Aug. 18 hit the province since midnight yesterday.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the strongest was a magnitude 4.2, which occurred at around 12:05 p.m. and was felt in this city

Quakes with magnitudes of  3.8, 2.9, 3.1 and 2.1 were also recorded.

A person died and several others were injured in the magnitude 6.6 quake that jolted Cataingan town,

Meanwhile, a magnitude 3.8 quake rattled parts of Davao del Sur yesterday.

Phivolcs said the temblor occurred at about 10:53 a.m., with its epicenter traced sopme 15 kilometers southwest of Bansalan town.

It was felt at Intensity 3, which is classified as weak. – Helen Flores
