SUV hits steel bollards on EDSA

MANILA, Philippines — At least eight steel bollards along EDSA were uprooted after being hit by a sport utility vehicle (SUV) on Sunday.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority traffic chief Bong Nebrija posted on Facebook the footage of the SUV ramming the bollards along EDSA-Shaw Boulevard underpass.

Nebrija said the incident belied critics’ claim that accidents along the highway were caused by the concrete barriers and bollards that line the busway.

He said reckless drivers should be blamed for road crashes along EDSA.
