MANILA, Philippines — Earthquakes hit different parts of the country on yesterday, but no damage or injuries were reported, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The first quake, a magnitude-4.5, occurred nine kilometers southeast of Sabangan in Mountain Province at 6:58 a.m.
It was felt at Intensity 5 in Sabangan; Intensity 4 in Bauko, Sagada and Besao, all in Mountain Province; Hungduan in Ifugao and Mankayan in Benguet; Intensity 3 in Banaue, Ifugao, and Intensity 2 in Baguio City and Tublay, Benguet.
The second quake, measuring magnitude-4.1, struck 49 km northwest of Patnongon, Antique at 8:28 a.m.
The temblor was felt at Intensity 3 in Culasi, Bulasong, Barbasa and Patnongon, all in Antique, and Libacao and Malinao, both in Aklan.
Intensity 2 was recorded in Sebaste, San Jose de Buenavista and Belison, all in Antique, and Madalag, Kalibo and Tangalan, all in Aklan.
The third temblor with magnitude-4.8 struck 11 km southwest of Bayabas in Surigao del Sur at 9:30 a.m.
It was felt at Intensity 3 in the towns of Cagwait, Carmen and San Miguel, and Intensity 2 in Cantilan and Marihatag.
A magnitude-4.3 quake occurred at 1:10 p.m. some four kilometers northwest of Leyte town in Leyte.
It was felt at Intensity 4 in the towns of Leyte, Capoocan, and Calubian; Naval, Cabucgayan and Biliran, all in Biliran province, and Intensity 2 in Jaro, Leyte.
The Philippines sits along the Pacific Ring of Fire, where earthquakes and volcanic eruptions are common.
