Retired Caloocan bishop gets COVID-19

Evelyn Macairan - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Caloocan Bishop Emeritus Deogracias Iñiguez Jr. has contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19, according to his successor Bishop Pablo Virgilio David.

David said Iñiguez is being treated in an undisclosed hospital.

David asked the parishioners to pray for the speedy recovery of the 79-year-old prelate.

Iñiguez served as bishop of the Diocese of Caloocan for almost 10 years.

He was among the Catholic bishops suspected of leading a destabilization plot against President Duterte in 2018 along with opposition personalities.
