BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Three frontliners have filed a complaint against Tabuk City Vice Mayor Bernard Glenn Dao-as for allegedly violating quarantine rules imposed by the government to contain the coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19.
The complaint was filed before the Office of the Ombudsman by Roxanne Eng-op, Robert Bayangan and Rogelio Calsiyao.
The complainants said Dao-oas ignored a quarantine checkpoint in Barangay Talaca, Tabuk City when he allowed entry to a Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) personnel from Bulacan who did not have travel documents.
They said the incident occurred on June 5 involving three passengers and the driver of a vehicle that arrived at the checkpoint at around 3 a.m.
The driver showed travel documents and health clearances for three persons only, including himself.
Eng-op said he required the same documents from the third passenger, whom she was told was a BFP personnel and an APOR or a person authorized outside of residence.
Eng-op said she told the group that the BFP personnel still needed to show travel documents and had to undergo a triage process.
Dao-as, who was among the passengers, reportedly got angry when Eng-op refused to exempt the BFP personnel from the health protocols.
The BFP personnel turned out to be Dao-as’ relative, whom he picked up from Bulacan.
On June 9, Dao-as posted on social media that the frontliners were rude.
The complainant denied Dao-as’ allegations.
