1 dead in Zamboanga grenade attack

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — A man died while his two companions were wounded in a grenade explosion in a remote village east of this city yesterday.

Radzkil Tutoh Assar’s mangled body was recovered at the scene, Capt. Edwin Duco, Zamboanga peninsula police spokesman, said.

Mohammad Jainal Asid Ammad and Ersad Asari, both natives of Sulu, were wounded and taken to the Zamboanga City Medical Center for treatment.

Initial investigation showed the victims were sleeping in their hut when a man lobbed a grenade.

Probers are eyeing a grudge as the motive for the attack.
