P5 million marijuana bricks recovered in Isabela park

Victor Martin - The Philippine Star

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines — Marijuana bricks valued at more than P5 million were recovered in a park in Quezon, Isabela on Monday.

Brig. Gen. Crizaldo Nieves, Cagayan Valley police director, said Councilor Armando Lacambra discovered the illegal drugs in the town’s botanical garden in Barangay Santos at around 8 a.m.

Nieves said responding personnel of the Quezon police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency regional office found 42 marijuana bricks in two sacks.

Police have yet to determine the owners of the illegal drugs.

He said drug couriers could have abandoned the marijuana bricks due to the presence of police checkpoints in the area.
