‘Party bar’ in Makati shut down
MANILA, Philippines — The city government of Makati has shut down a bar where 15 foreigners were arrested earlier in the week for partying without social distancing and allegedly using illegal drugs.
The Southern Police District earlier in the week bared that 14 Cameroonians and one Liberian were arrested at the D’Evolution Bar and Kitchen in Makati.
The city’s Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO) on Friday ordered the shut down of the bar for supposedly not being able to secure a business permit.
The bar’s management also did not follow protocols on general community quarantine (GCQ) to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
“The BPLO conducts routine inspections on business establishments to ensure compliance amid the pandemic,” Makati City Mayor Abby Binay said in a statement.
The foreigners were arrested and were charged for violation of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code, or Resistance and Disobedience to a Person in authority.
They were also arrested for violations of various Philippine laws.
A sachet containing suspected shabu was seized from the crime scene.
The BPLO had earlier closed down DGSI Pushin salon in Barangay Pembo for supposed failure to renew business permit and violation of GCQ protocols.
