PAGBILAO, Quezon, Philippines — Five persons were injured when a bus figured in an accident along Maharlika Highway in this town on Saturday afternoon.
The bus, which was loaded with seafarers, reportedly developed engine trouble as it was traveling in Barangay Bukal at past 5 p.m., according to Col. Audie Madrideo, provincial police director.
Driver Gualberto Guzman, 58, told probers he lost control of the wheel, causing the bus to hit a store and a house along the roadside.
Guzman and his passenger Regine Joy Fuentes were taken to the MMG Hospital in Lucena City for treatment of injuries.
Three other seafarers – Reymar Abendano, Michael Angelo Moreno and Romel Abello suffered minor injuries. They were given first aid at the scene of the accident by personnel of the municipal disaster risk reduction and management office.
The seafarers were on their way home after completing a 14-day quarantine period in Manila.
