Negros lawyer wounded in gun attack dies
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — A lawyer who was wounded in a gun attack in Dumaguete City on Jan. 3 has died.
Ray Moncada, 74, who was shot in front of his house in Barangay Daro, died while being treated in a hospital on Monday, Col. Julian Entoma, Negros Oriental police officer-in-charge, said yesterday.
Entoma said a task force was created to investigate the killing of Moncada. The National Bureau of Investigation was asked to help in the probe.
Saying the gun attack could be work-related, probers are looking into the land dispute cases that Moncada had handled.
Entoma said hired killers could be behind the attack.
The incident occurred five months after lawyer Anthony Trinidad was shot dead in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.
