P4.4 million marijuana seized in Kalinga

TABUK CITY, Kalinga, Philippines — Dried marijuana leaves with an estimated value of P4.4 million were seized from two  local tourists in this city on Monday. 

Jose Raymundo Jr., 20, and Kian Cortez, 22, both residents of Quezon City, were caught carrying the marijuana in a bus pulled over by anti-narcotics operatives, according to Edgar Apalla, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Cordillera Autonomous Region director.

Police did not say where the suspects came from and where they bought the marijuana.

Raymundo and Cortez were detained at the Kalinga police lockup.
