10 drug suspects nabbed in Pasig

MANILA, Philippines — Ten persons were apprehended in a drug sting in Pasig City, which resulted in the confiscation of P34,000 worth of shabu before dawn yesterday.

The suspects were arrested at a slum area in Barangay Rosario at around 1:30 a.m.

Brig. Gen. Johnson Almazan, director of the Eastern Police District, said five grams of shabu were seized in the operation. A gram of shabu has an estimated street value of P6,800, police said.

The suspects were Jhonard dela Rosa, 27; Reynan Perez, 29; Grinco Real, 20; Ruel Arsenio, 35; Rowell Joseph Abalos, 36; Jerome Dumanais, 21; Jason Beniopa, 22; Jimboy Edmilao, 19; Darell Alfonso, 23, and a 15-year-old boy.

Police said the minor was turned over to the city social welfare office. The other suspects are being held on drug charges.

In Quezon City, over P200,000 worth of shabu was confiscated from a suspected drug pusher.

Rashed Madendog, 38, was arrested in front of a mall along North Avenue in Barangay Bagong Pag-asa on Saturday night.

Madendog allegedly sold P7,000 worth of shabu to a police officer.

Police said they recovered 30 more grams of shabu from the suspect.

Twenty other drug suspects were nabbed in Barangays Gulod, Pasong Tamo, Ramon Magsaysay, Pasong Putik, Payatas, Krus na Ligas and Bagumbayan in the past two days.

In Manila, suspected drug pusher Darwin Balicasan, 40, was collared during a sting at the corner of Roberto S. Oca and Railroad streets in Port Area.

Balicasan was tagged by police as allegedly responsible for the proliferation of drugs in the area.

Probers said they recovered from Balicasan over P37,000 worth of shabu and the marked money.

Members of the Manila Police District Station 5 said they conducted an operation against the suspect following a tip from an informant.

In Las Piñas, Benedict Benedicto was arrested for alleged possession of marijuana after security guards accosted him for shoplifting at an ukay-ukay store along Alabang-Zapote Road in Barangay Talon Uno.
