SEA Games ticket scalper nabbed

MANILA, Philippines — Police arrested yesterday a tricycle driver for selling overpriced tickets during the volleyball matches of the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Pasig City.

The scalper, Edmund Tolentino, 57, will be charged for violating Republic Act 7394 or the Consumer Act of the Philippines.

City police chief Brig. Gen. Johnson Almazan said Tolentino was caught in the act of selling tickets in front of the PhilSports Arena in Barangay Oranbo at around 3 p.m.

A policeman who posed as a buyer apprehended Tolentino after he sold tickets, originally priced at P100, for P500.

Police had warned scalpers against taking advantage of the SEA Games to sell overpriced tickets.
