10 Abu bandits surrender in Basilan

ZAMBOANGA , Philippines – Ten Abu Sayyaf bandits surrendered to the 18th Infantry Battalion (IB) in Ungkaya Pukan, Basilan on Monday, the military reported yesterday.

The surrenderees, all followers of Furuji Indama, turned over their firearms, according to Maj. Arvin John Encinas, spokesman for the Western Mindanao Command. 

Brig. Gen. Fernando Reyeg, commander of the Joint Task Force Basilan, said more Abu Sayyaf bandits are expected to surrender knowing that their former comrades were attended and provided with assistance by the government.

In Albarka and Tipo-Tipo, barangay officials surrendered assorted loose firearms to the 18th IB, also on Monday.
