MANILA, Philippines — Motorists and commuters are likely to experience “monstrous” traffic in Metro Manila until Tuesday, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said Friday.

In an advisory, the DPWH said it resumed on Friday night road reblocking along EDSA and other major roads. The weekend road repairs will be completed by 5 a.m. on Tuesday.

The sections of EDSA that are being repaired are first southbound lane from center island from Bulacan street to Philam and from the Magallanes-Baclaran bus stop to Magallanes-Alabang bus stop, outer lane.

The DPWH said it will also desilt and construct a manhole from Eugenio Lopez Drive to Scout Borromeo on EDSA and the first northbound lane from the sidewalk from Main Avenue to P. Tuazon, also on EDSA.

“Reblocking activities will also be undertaken at the southbound directions of Circumferential Road 5, from C.P. Garcia Bridge approach B; Taguig City, fronting Palar Village; and Katipunan Avenue, after Boni Serrano tunnel to P. Tuazon street, truck lane,” the DPWH said.

The DPWH said it will also conduct reblocking along Quirino Highway’s inner eastbound lane, from Theresa Heights to Belfast; and Elliptical Road’s seventh lane from the outer sidewalk, before Commonwealth Avenue.

“Motorists are advised to take alternate routes due to expected traffic buildup in affected areas,” the DPWH said in its advisory.
