Chinese nabbed for slapping tanod

Ralph Edwin Villanueva - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A Chinese man was arrested yesterday for slapping a barangay tanod in the face after he was caught violating an anti-illegal parking ordinance in Las Piñas City.

Ming Meng, 28, was nabbed by police on charges of direct assault and unjust vexation.

Hadjie Real Alayon said they were conducting a road clearing operation when they saw Ming’s vehicle illegally parked along a street in Philamlife Village.

Police said Alayon accosted the Chinese. But instead of apologizing, Ming hit the village watchman.

President Duterte has ordered local government units to clear the streets of illegal vendors, parked vehicles and other obstructions.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government asked mayors to clear public roads in 60 days.
