Suspect in fishpond murder charged

MANILA, Philippines — The suspect behind the killing of a woman, found wrapped in a blanket and decaying in a fishpond in Valenzuela, was charged with murder yesterday after admitting to the crime.

Godofredo Perdigon Jr. executed an extrajudicial confession that he killed Rosalie Sagal, 43, over jealousy last July 20 and then dumped her in a fishpond just behind his house in Barangay Pasalo.

Perdigon was traced by police to a Pampanga drug rehabilitation facility where he had himself admitted just two days after committing crime.

“This is a crime of passion. They were childhood sweethearts, and he accused Rosalie of having an affair before he killed her,” said Station Investigation Division and Management Branch chief Maj. Amor Cerillo.

The victim was having an affair with the suspect, making her husband believe that she had been abducted when she went missing last July 20, police said.
