2 hurt in Sta. Cruz fire

MANILA, Philippines — A firefighter and a resident were injured after a fire broke out in a residential area in Sta. Cruz, Manila Sunday night.

Senior Inspector Hector Agadulin, Bureau of Fire Protection Station 5 commander, said one of his men suffered a laceration on the hand while Lynda Mangulabnao, 58, suffered first-degree burns on her scalp and face when the fire started at the second floor of her house at around 11 p.m.

The fire reached second alarm and was put out around 12:31 a.m. yesterday.

Arson probers, who have yet to determine what caused the fire, said at least P300,000 worth of property was destroyed.
