More aftershocks rock Surigao Sur

MANILA, Philippines — Aftershocks from a magnitude 5.5 earthquake that hit Surigao del Sur on July 13 continued to jolt the province yesterday.

Quakes with magnitudes of 3.5, 3.8 and 3.6 occurred at about 12:02 a.m., 1:39 a.m. and 1:40 a.m., respectively, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.

The epicenters of the quakes were traced in Carrascal town.

The first and third quakes were felt the strongest at Intensity 3 and the second tremor at Intensity 4 in Carrascal and nearby areas in Surigao del Sur and Surigao del Norte.
