Magnitude 4.1 quake hits North Cotabato

MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.1 earthquake hit Makilala, North Cotabato yesterday, but did not cause any damage or injuries, state seismologists said. 

The quake occurred at about 12:26 p.m. and was centered 20 kilometers northeast of Makilala.

It was felt at Intensity 3 in Kidapawan City and Intensity 2 in Tupi, South Cotabato.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the temblor was an aftershock of the magnitude 5.6 quake that hit Makilala on July 9, which left 61 persons injured.

The quake was felt at Intensity 6, which is classified as very strong.
