MANILA, Philippines — Murder and frustrated murder charges were filed on Friday against a brother of Dominic Sytin, a prominent businessman at the Subic freeport, who was killed in a gun attack last November.

Dominic’s wife Ann Marietta and the Olongapo City police filed the complaints before the Department of Justice against Dennis Sytin; Edgardo Luib, the alleged gunman, and Oliver Fuentes, alias Ryan Rementilla, Dominic’s former employee.

Police said Luib, who was arrested in Batangas on March 5, executed an extrajudicial confession that identified Dennis as the mastermind and tagged Fuentes in the killing.

Luib said he was promised P1 million to kill Dominic, but was paid only P50,000.

Dennis denied the allegations, saying he is only being used as a scapegoat.

Dominic’s family offered a reward of P1 million for information leading to the arrest of Fuentes.

Fuentes was a former employee of the United Auctioneers Inc. (UAI), of which Dominic was the chief executive officer.

Dominic fired Fuentes for alleged embezzlement of around P1 million of UAI’s earnings.
