PNP shifts to new rank classification
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) has officially shifted to the new rank classification in all its communications.
PNP spokesman Col. Benigno Banac said a memorandum order, issued by the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management on Feb. 27, took effect yesterday.
Banac said all PNP communications should reflect the new rank classification under Republic Act 11200 signed by President Duterte on Feb. 8.
“Effective immediately, pinapagamit na ang new rank classification in both verbal and written communications,” he said in a text message.
Banac said while they would shift to the new rank classification, the PNP is awaiting the approval of the implementing rules and regulations for the acronyms to be used in written documents.
The PNP earlier welcomed the law that returned police ranks to those similar to military titles.
The shift would clarify the command and responsibility in the police force for effective supervision and control among its uniformed personnel, the PNP said.
