16 females rescued from sex ring in Makati City

MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) rescued 16 females, 11 of them minors, during a raid on a prostitution ring at a condominium in Makati Wednesday night.

Two Chinese and two Filipinos, including a 17-year-old boy, were arrested and charged with human trafficking.

Members of the NBI’s anti-trafficking division, led by lawyer Janet Francisco, raided the building based on a tip from an informant.

Francisco said the suspects post the females’ photos on the internet and their clients, mostly Chinese, will contact them for booking. One of the suspects admitted that he was responsible for recruiting the females.

The NBI said the minors will be taken to the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
