3 fires break out in Metro Manila

MANILA, Philippines — Three fires broke out in various parts of Metro Manila yesterday.

Around 70 houses on the border between Barangay Manuyo Dos, Las Piñas and Barangay San Isidro in Parañaque were razed in a fire that started at past 1 p.m.

Strong wind caused the fire, which started on Jerusalem street in Las Piñas, to spread to the houses in Parañaque, firefighters said.

Most of the houses were made of combustible materials, they noted.

No one was hurt in the blaze, which was raised to third alarm and placed under control at around 2:40 p.m.

The damage from the fire was pegged by authorities at around P150,000.

Another fire broke out along a row of houses on Mulawin street in Barangay 187 in Maricaban, Pasay City.

Firefighters raised the second alarm on the fire, which started at around 12:40 p.m. The blaze was placed under control around an hour later, firefighters said.

Yesterday afternoon, a third fire razed a residential area in Barangay Addition Hills, Mandaluyong City.
