MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) has initiated an investigation on an ambush that left a municipal mayor in Cebu wounded and her husband and two others dead on Tuesday.

CHR-Central Visayas chief Arvin Odron condemned the attempt on the life of San Fernando town Mayor Lakambini Reluya in Barangay Linao, Talisay City.

The attack killed Reluya’s husband Ricardo, president of the Association of Barangay Captains; her staff Allan Bayot, and van driver Ricky Monterona.

“The CHR has deployed a quick reaction team to ensure full accountability of the perpetrators and justice for the victims. We urged all sectors to help our law enforcement officers solve the case” Odron said.
