2 drug suspects shot dead
MANILA, Philippines — A drug suspect was killed in an alleged shootout with police officers in Bulacan on Saturday.
On the same day, a tricycle driver said to be involved in the illegal drug trade was shot dead by an unidentified assailant in Laguna.
Jayson Udal reportedly pulled out a gun and shot at the police officers during a sting in Barangay Bagong Buhay, according to Bulacan police director Senior Superintendent Chito Bersaluna.
Udal died at the scene. He was reportedly on the drug list of the police.
Probers said they recovered from the suspect six plastic sachets said to contain shabu and a handgun.
Meanwhile, Gerald Nares, 29, was driving a tricycle in Barangay Macabiling, Santa Rosa City, when he was killed at around 4:30 p.m.
Nares was declared dead on arrival at the Santa Rosa Community Hospital.
Records showed the victim was on the drug list of the police.
Probers have yet to determine the motive for the killing.
