Pangasinan vice governor bet withdraws candidacy

DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines — Retired police official Paterno Orduña has withdrawn his certificate of candidacy (COC) for vice governor of Pangasinan for health reasons.

Orduña, 68, went to the Commission on Elections provincial office in this city at around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, saying his cardiologist told him that he could not withstand the rigors of the campaign after his quadruple bypass four years ago.

Mark Ronald Lambino, the eldest son of presidential adviser for Northern Luzon Raul Lambino, filed his COC yesterday as a substitute for Orduña.

Mark Ronald will be the runningmate of Mayor Arthur Celeste of Alaminos City.

Celeste and Lambino will be pitted against tandem of Gov. Amado Espino III, who is seeking reelection, and former board member Angel Baniqued Sr.
