Neuva Ecija councilor bet slain

TUGUEGARAO, Cagayan, Philippines — A candidate for councilor in Nueva Ecija was gunned down by motorcycle-riding assailants in San Antonio town on Friday.

Allan Joson was standing near his house in Barangay Julo when he was shot at around 4:25 p.m. He was pronounced dead on arrival in a hospital.

Probers said politics is among the possible motives for the killing.
