Western Visayas to get 647 new cops

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – At least 647 police personnel will be deployed in Western Visayas.    

Superintendent Joem Malong, regional police director, said the new police officers, 156 of them women, took their oath at Camp Martin Delgado on Monday.

The new recruits will undergo training on public safety and basic recruit course in this city for six months to be followed by a field training for one year.

The National Police Commission (Napolcom) recently approved the recruitment of 17,925 new police officers, of which 1,390 were allocated to Western Visayas.

Rogelio Casurao, Napolcom vice chairman and executive officer, said the Philippine National Police is also recruiting 10,000 civilians and 7,925 police officers under its regular and attrition recruitment quotas, respectively.
