MANILA, Philippines — Police officers failed to arrest businessman Peter Lim at his houses in Cebu City yesterday.
Lim was not around when law enforcers served a warrant of arrest at his residences in Barangays Mabolo and Banilad in Cebu City.
Police said only the caretakers and at least 10 house-helpers were present at Lim’s house at Sto. Niño village in Barangay Banilad.
One of the caretakers claimed that Lim has not visited the house since last year.
However, Chief Inspector Henrix Bancoleta, deputy chief of the Cebu City police intelligence branch, said they received information that Lim has been visiting the house.
“Palipat-lipat kasi siya... May information tayo na umuuwi siya dito kaya nag-verify tayo. Negative. Nagpasalamat tayo sa caretaker kasi cooperative,” Bancoleta said.
He said they would continue to monitor Lim’s whereabouts.
Chief Inspector Dindo Juanito Alaras, Mabolo police station chief, said they would also monitor Lim’s properties and establishments in Cebu City.
The Central Visayas police had earlier said they are monitoring Lim’s five houses in Cebu.
Makati City Regional Trial Court Branch 65 Judge Gina Bibat-Palamos issued the warrant of arrest on Aug. 14.
Lim was charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit illegal drug trading along with Kerwin Espinosa, Marcelo Adorco and Ruel Malindangan and several others on Aug. 10.
The court also issued a hold-departure order against Lim to prevent him from leaving the country.
Records at the Bureau of Immigration show that the businessman remains in the country.
