3 slain in shootings

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna  , Philippines  —  Three persons including two drug suspects were killed in separate shootings in Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) over the weekend.

Louies Borja died at the scene after he allegedly exchanged fire with police officers in Barangay Hugo Perez, Trece Martires, Cavite yesterday afternoon.

Police said Borja was a known drug trafficker in the area.

In Laguna, Rogelio Aviles reportedly pulled out a gun and shot at the police officers after sensing he was dealing with an undercover agent in Barangay Sto. Angel Central, Sta. Cruz town on Saturday afternoon.

Aviles was a newly identified drug trafficker in the area, police said.

Meanwhile, responding police officers shot dead Victoriano Landicho who reportedly created trouble in Barangay Tulo, Batangas City on Saturday.

Armed with a gun, Landicho reportedly threatened to shoot his neighbors, prompting them to seek police help.

Senior Police Officer 3 Nelson Ramos suffered a gunshot wound in the abdomen during the shootout.
