Rob suspect slain in Caloocan shootout

MANILA, Philippines — A suspected robber was shot dead while his accomplice escaped during an alleged encounter with police in Caloocan before dawn yesterday.

The still unidentified suspect was shot by members of the city police and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group at a checkpoint along Saranai Road in Barangay 171 yesterday.

Caloocan deputy chief for administration Superintendent Ferdinand del Rosario said the main target, a robber named “Epoy” who was then driving the motorcycle, escaped.

The target’s back rider was killed after firing shots at the police.

Police recovered a loaded .38 caliber revolver, four fired cartridge cases, and a deformed fired bullet.
