35 nabbed for drugs in Metro Manila

MANILA, Philippines — At least 35 alleged pushers and users have been arrested in Metro Manila since Monday.

Among them are Sangki Makakua Jr., 58; Johaira Mayo, 51; and Maricel Hasegawa, 38, who were caught in a sting at a condominium unit in Maharlika Village, Taguig yesterday morning.

Police seized 25 grams of shabu, with a street value of P125,000, and a 9mm Armscor pistol with 10 bullets from the suspects.

Two others were arrested in Taguig Monday night.

In Quezon City, 29 sachets of shabu, a 9mm pistol and P1,000 marked money were confiscated before dawn yesterday from Alvin de Dios, 27; Jhalal Lotao, 19; and Jane Lee, 19, who were reportedly using a cell phone repair shop near a bus terminal along EDSA in Barangay Immaculate Concepcion as a front.

Twenty-one others were also arrested in Quezon City and five in Manila in the past two days. – Emmanuel Tupas, Rey Galupo
