Parojinog mansion destroyed in fire
ILIGAN CITY, Philippines — An abandoned two-story mansion owned by the brother of slain Ozamiz mayor Reynaldo Parojinog was destroyed in a fire on Wednesday.
Fire marshal Wilfredo Dagatan said the incident occurred at around 2 a.m., but they received a fire call only at about 4:24 a.m.
Councilor Ricardo Parojinog and his partner, Sangguniang Panlalawigan member Mena Luansing own the mansion in Barangay Bagakay.
The couple escaped after the mayor and several of their family members died in simultaneous police raids in July last year.
The caretakers of the house come only during daytime to feed the dogs.
Probers are eyeing arson, citing the smell of diesel fuel mixed with gasoline, adding that the fire simultaneously broke out on the second floor and other parts of the mansion.
