MANILA, Philippines — Two police officers helped a pregnant woman give birth in the backseat of a police car in Manila yesterday morning.
Police Officer 2 Melchizedek Bangayan and PO1 Rafael Robles, assigned with the Manila Police District (MPD) Station 3, were in a car when they noticed Elsa Pansa was denied a ride by a taxi driver in front of the Telecom Compound in Sta. Cruz at around 7 a.m.
Bangayan said they rushed to Pansa when they saw her bleeding.
She gave birth to a baby boy in the police car.
The policemen brought Pansa to the Fabella Hospital where she and her baby were given treatment.
MPD Station 3 commander Superintendent Arnold Thomas Ibay commended Bangayan and Robles for their act.
