Signal No. 1 up in Bicol, Visayas as 'Urduja' accelerates
MANILA, Philippines — Storm Warning Signal No. 1 has been raised in the Bicol and Visayas area as tropical depression "Urduja" moves closer towards Eastern Samar.
At 7 a.m., the center of the tropical depression was located 140 km east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar with winds of up to 55 kph and gusts of up to 65 kph. It is expected to move west at 10 kph.
"Urduja" is forecasted to make landfall over Eastern Samar between Thursday night and Friday morning.
Storm Warning Signal No. 1 is raised in the following areas:

- Bantayan Island
- Biliran
- Camarines Sur
- Capiz
- Catanduanes
- Northern Cebu
- Northern Iloilo
- Leyte
- Southern Leyte
- Masbate
- Romblon
- Samar
- Eastern Samar
- Northern Samar
- Sorsogon
Forecast positions
- 24 hours (Friday morning): In the vicinity of San Julian, Easrern Samar
- 48 hours (Saturday morning: 55 km east of Masbate City, Masbate
- 72 hours (Sunday morning): 70 km southwest of Romblob, Romblon
- 96 hours (Monday morning): 175 km north of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan
"Estimated rainfall amount is from moderate to heavy within the 400 km diameter of the Tropical Depression," state weather bureau PAGASA said.
Wave height in the open sea of these areas may reach 1.25 to 4 meters.
Visayas and the regions of Bicol, Caraga and northern Mindanao will expereicen scattered to widespread rains within 24 hours. The residents in the affected areas are warned of possible flash floods and landslides.
